About

I start painting from scratch, like someone embarking on a random journey. I choose a colour, I stain the canvas and let the paint take shape. This first decision will determine the outcome, giving way to new shapes and new colours that will eventually become more and more defined.

The result responds to the most unconscious side and I am willing to confirm how this part seems to be governed by its own laws. These laws will condition both the composition and the combination of colours or the relationships establishing between shades and elements.

As the action of painting moves forward, a series of successive layers are created, often yearning to be the last, ultimate layer. However, for some reason I still ignore, the painting grows, imposes and hides itself once and again. At times, it leaves traces that have been there from the very beginning in full sight. Others, it removes all traces of the memory of what lies behind.

My painting is the result of a process that never ends. The work presented for others to gaze is just the pause of a present moment that I once wanted to share with the viewer –as if it were a finding-, quite likely to be continued if it was ever to return to the workshop one day.
